Joe Davidson worked as an elementary school principal in Virginia, but he wanted to increase his household income for his family. His goal was to grow and sell strawberries for extra cash in the summer. To do that, he needed an optimal water irrigating system that didn’t require a lot of extra effort when watering dozens of strawberry plants. Heading to his basement, he tinkered and developed a T-tape drip irrigation system. 

When Joe’s irrigation system proved successful, he couldn’t stop talking about it. His wife, Gail, encouraged him to turn his invention into a business. That’s exactly what he did in 1985.
