Entrepreneur Spotlight: Roy E. Carroll, II

Roy E. Carroll, II – Investing in Greensboro’s Economic Development

Roy E Carroll II

As the founder, Chairman, and CEO of RE Carroll Investments, Roy E. Carroll, II is one of the largest and most successful real estate developers in North Carolina and the Southeast with over 400 employees and a several billion dollar portfolio. His 2012 efforts to build The Carroll at Bellemeade brought several hundred apartments and a Hyatt Place Hotel right next door to his hometown’s baseball park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Carroll’s ongoing investment in the city demonstrates his dedication to benefitting Greensboro through his entrepreneurial success.

R.E. Carroll Investments, The Carroll Companies, And Greensboro

After high school and several business ideas, Carroll and his father, Roy E. Carroll, Sr., began their first company together in the early 1980’s. The father and son team set out to build quality residential homes after building a house for a family friend together. Within just a few years, R.E. Carroll Construction grew across several counties and exploded as a leading land developer in the area. Because they did not utilize bank financing for land, the Carrolls were able to build faster and give more value back to their customers. This of course reinforced their already impressive reputation as efficient and quality builders. As Roy, Sr. ran onsite operations, Roy, II handled all office and billing responsibilities. Carroll’s father eventually sold him the remaining company shares. Roy, II by that time had earned his contractor’s license.

By the mid 1990’s, Roy E. Carroll, II founded Carroll Investment Properties and expanded into commercial land and property development. Within ten years, Carroll formed both Capstone Management Company and CIP Construction Company to manage apartment communities and multifamily development. His entrepreneurial spirit also founded Bee Safe Storage and brought to life SNAP Publications, which produced a local government newspaper. With so many accomplishments under his belt, Roy E. Carroll, II has proven himself to be a true real estate entrepreneur with a passion for the local Greensboro community and city.

A Real Estate Entrepreneur Gives Back

Not only passionate about land development, Carroll also focuses on political involvement and impacting change. He’s donated thousands to Republican candidates on the state and national level. He purchased The Rhino Times in 2013 to help keep the local, conservative publication afloat. Carroll has served on the boards for both the North Carolina Railroad Co. and Greensboro College.

Roy E. Carroll, II has stretched across North Carolina and into South Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee with developments in Raleigh, Charleston, Dallas, Austin, and Nashville. He’s also expanded into philanthropy and values giving back to his community and research foundations. With close to $1M in contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, RE Carroll Investments and its partners continue to demonstrate their dedication to helping others. Carroll also founded the Building an End to Diabetes fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and was honored by the foundation at the 2014 Piedmont Triad Hope Gala.
